Frequently Asked Questions

Following are some questions we often get asked.  If you have a question for us that isn’t answered here, please send us your query.

Q: I’ve been using a chainsaw for years and never cut myself, why do I need to buy protective legwear now?

A: An accident with a chainsaw can happen anytime and quickly! No matter the level of experience you have and how lucky you have been in the past, it does not protect you from cuts and injuries.

Q: I hardly use my chainsaw, it’s not worth it?

A: It takes less than one second to slip with a chainsaw, which can cause serious injuries. We recommend our C8 Chaps for occasional users – they are fully certified and at a lower price than the rest of our range.

Q: Chaps are too expensive.

A: What value do you put on your legs?

Q: Do you sell direct?

A: We have an online store present on this website. We also sell to resellers throughout NZ, Australia and North America; some also have their own online stores. You can find a list of these stores here

Q: In what situation should I use ZIP chaps rather than CLIP chaps?

A: The zip chaps don’t have straps at the lower leg that can get caught by undergrowth or branches, however the zips need to be kept clean to function properly.

Q: Should I buy trousers or chaps?

A:  Trousers are a personal garment so are best for a professional user who is doing a lot of chainsaw work all day, whereas chaps can be used by multiple personnel and are easy to take on and off if the chainsaw work you are doing is intermittent.

Q: What is the coolest garment?

A: If you are interested by chaps; our Clip models will be the best as they are open all the way down the back of the leg. Although the summer weight trousers (model Zero with chainsaw protection and Spider without) have an open weave fabric at the back of the leg for breathability.

Q: Is there any warranty?

A: All of our products are guaranteed against faulty workmanship and materials for a period of 6 months.   We as the manufacturer, reserve the right to repair or replace at our discretion, and so we request that warranty claims are approved by us prior to a replacement garment being given to a customer.

Q: Can the chainsaw protective garments be repaired?

A: Yes, the outer covers and straps can be repaired but the actual protective fabric cannot be.  If it has been caught or damaged in any way the garment must be discarded.  It is recommended that any repairs are sent back to the manufacturer to ensure that the integrity of the garment in maintained.

Q: Can custom sizes be made?

A: Yes! There is a 15% surcharge for this service and there is a lead time of 2 to 3 weeks.

Q:Why should I buy CLOGGER?

A: When you buy Clogger garments you know that you are buying a product that has been tested and proven over the last 20 years in the harsh forestry environment.  You know that the product is backed up by a company that has its own testing facility and is always striving to improve its range in response to the chainsaw industry’s demands.

Q: What is the difference between “certified” and “compliant”?

A: Compliance is a manufacturer’s own declaration that their product is made to a certain standard.  Certification is one step further where a third party verifies that their product is made to a certain standard and that there is a quality control system in place to ensure that all product is consistently manufactured to that standard.
